Effect of ethanol on transfer factor: the importance of posture.

چکیده
Pulmonary diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (transfer factor, TLCO) is known to be low in alcoholics,' and ethanol may cause a reduction in TLCO in normal subjects.2 The mechanism of this reduction is unclear, but there are two possible explanations. Firstly, a redistribution of blood may occur between the central and peripheral vasculature, causing a fall in pulmonary capillary blood volume (Vc). Secondly, there may be a change in the function of the alveolar capillary membrane (DM). Distinction between these two possibilities is important as it has been claimed on the basis of the alcohol induced reduction in TLCO that ethanol is directly toxic to the pulmonary alveolar capillary membrane.2 To elucidate the mechanism of the fall in TLCO after ethanol we measured TLCO, Vc, and DM in normal subjects in both the erect and supine positions, before and 90 minutes after taking ethanol.

Heat Transfer has special importance in engineering applications. So, researchers have suggested different new idea to increase heat transfer and using nanofluid is one of these methods In recent years, new methods have been used. One of these methods is the use of nanofluids, ., because nanofluids have higher heat transfer potential than base conventional fluids. In this investigation effect o...

متن کاملP-75: The Effect of Hydrostatic Pressure in The Presence of Different Concentrations of Extracellular Calcium, Ethanol and Cytochalasin B on Parthenogenetic Activation of Mouse oocytes
Background: The parthenogenetic of oocytes is important in cloning research, as artificial activation of oocytes is an essential component of nucleus transfer protocols. Hydrostatic pressure can act as a mechanical stimulator that rearranges egg contents. Ethanol promotes a single intracellular Ca2+ increase of greater and longer amplitude than the initial increase observed at fertilization. In...
متن کاملFactor Effect Estimation in the Convective Heat Transfer Coefficient Enhancement of Al2O3/EG Nanofluid in a Double-pipe Heat Exchanger
The forced convective heat transfer (CHT) coefficient of a particular nanofluid, Al2O3 nanoparticles-ethylene glycol (EG) mixture, was investigated experimentally in a double-pipe heat exchanger. The nanofluid Nusselt number for different nanoparticles’ concentrations as well as various operating temperatures was measured to be increased up to 23.7% using 1.0% wt of nanoparticles. The significa...
متن کاملThe effect of ethanol extract of a macroalgae Laurencia snyderia on growth parameters and vibriosis resistance in shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei
Bacterial diseases have been reported to be the major limiting factor in shrimp production. The use of natural products such as antimicrobials has been reported as a solution to the problem. The crude extract of a red seaweed Laurencia snyderiae obtained from the Persian Gulf was evaluated for shrimp growth performance and to determine in vivo efficacy of this seaweed in the prevention of shrim...
